Attempted Traffic Stop Leads to Vehicle Pursuit

At approximately 12:30 p.m. Saturday, officers with the Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department attempted a traffic stop on Interstate 65. After initially stopping, the vehicle sped off in an attempt to evade police, and a vehicle pursuit was initiated. The pursuit proceeded up I-65, until the vehicle exited into Lebanon, where LPD officers joined the pursuit. Shortly after exiting the interstate, the vehicle crashed near the Subaru warehouse, and the driver exited the vehicle and fled from WMPD officers and LPD officers on foot.

Officers established a perimeter of the area the driver fled into, and initiated a K9 Bloodhound Track. Shortly after, the Boone County Special Response Team (SRT) was also deployed to assist with the search. While conducting the search, law enforcement officials determined through preliminary investigation that the suspect was picked up by another vehicle, and left the area. Officers also
determined the vehicle was stolen out of Indianapolis earlier this week.

WMPD has confirmed that the suspect is no longer in the area, and there is no threat to the public. This incident is actively being investigated diligently by our Criminal Investigations Division.
