Mrs. Barbara J. Quellhorst, 87, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023, at Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born April 14, 1936, in Indianapolis, the only child of the late Lynn Pefley and Lois (Pauley) Pefley Bowen.
On December 31, 1955, she was united in marriage to James A. Quellhorst. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2015.
Barbara was a 1954 graduate of Thorntown High School. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lebanon. An avid reader, Barbara enjoyed reading and studying the Bible. She enjoyed working puzzles and tending to her flower gardens. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and homemaker. Not only did she care for her own home, but she also helped many in the community by cleaning their homes.
Survivors include six children, Liza Jackson of Lebanon, Diane (Anthony) Rehmet of Cloverdale, Rhoda (Steve) Vanausdall of Lebanon, James (Tina) Quellhorst of Lebanon, Martin Quellhorst of Lebanon, and Jason (Rhonda) Quellhorst of Shelbyville; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Barbara was preceded in death by a daughter, Kim Quellhorst.
A Mass of the Resurrection is planned for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lebanon, with Fr. Stephen Duquaine presiding. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lebanon.
