On Thursday, June 23, Bauer Family Resources will be hosting a celebration, An Evening of Grace, to honor the legacy of their founder Grace Bauer (1880-1954) and to release the agency’s vision for the future.
In 1929 the first Tippecanoe County Probation Officer, Grace Bauer, founded the Community House Association in response to the Great Depression and the need to serve youth. After several name changes and expanding services to 6 counties the agency became Bauer Family Resources in honor of Grace.
While the name of the agency has shifted, the spirit of Grace’s vision has remained consistent for 93 years; respond to community needs, collaborate with others, and never give up. Today, Bauer does this through several programs which include early childhood education, youth development, child abuse and neglect prevention, and services for families involved with the Department of Child Services.
Tristen Comegys, Chief Executive Officer, shares “An Evening of Grace is a time for us to pay tribute and celebrate the birthday of our founder, Grace Bauer, who has made the work we do today possible. This event is not only celebrating our past, but it will paint a picture of what our community can expect of our agency now and into the future. To help us celebrate, Indiana Chief Justice Loretta Rush will be the evening’s keynote speaker.”
Indiana Chief Justice Rush previously served as the Tippecanoe Superior Court 3 judge where she worked alongside Bauer addressing the needs of families involved with the Department of Child Services. Today, she is responsible for supervising Indiana’s judicial branch.
Celebrate Grace’s legacy, learn more about the needs of families, and Bauer’s vision for addressing those needs at 5:30 p.m. on June 23, at the Courtyard by Marriott Event Center in Lafayette.
