Betty Jean Grimes

Betty Jean Grimes, age 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born on February 23, 1938, to Howard Roberts and Erby Ethel (Wentworth) Roberts. She spent her early years in southeast Indianapolis. Betty graduated from Warren Central High School and later began a beautiful life as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

On August 23, 1956, Betty married the love of her life, Jerry Edward Grimes. Together, they built a home in Brownsburg, Indiana, where they lovingly raised their two children, Jeffrey and Kimberly. Betty was a dedicated homemaker whose talents shone through her delicious baked goods and beautiful drawings, hobbies that brought joy to her family and friends.

After the passing of her beloved husband, Betty moved to Lebanon, Indiana, to live with her daughter Kimberly, where she became a daily presence in the lives of her three cherished granddaughters. Her gentle spirit, artistic touch, and sweet treats left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.

Betty was a longtime member of Connection Pointe Christian Church, where her faith and kindness were evident in every aspect of her life. Her warmth, creativity, and selfless care for others will be dearly missed.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Erby Roberts, and her husband, Jerry Edward Grimes.

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey E. Grimes and Kimberly K. Kenneson and son-in-law, John Kenneson; grandchildren, Jeffrey E. Grimes, Jr., Amber Kenneson, Heather Kenneson, and Valerie Sipe and her husband, Preston Sipe; and her three great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous friends and loved ones who were blessed to know her.

Visitation is planned for Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, January 27, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Connection Pointe Christian Church in Brownsburg or to the American Heart Association.

Betty’s legacy of love and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
