Billy Joe Bailey, 70, passed away surrounded by loved ones Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincint Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Lebanon, Indiana, on November 19, 1954, a son of the late Benjamin and Corabelle C. (DeVol) Bailey.
On September 10, 1983, he married Jennifer S. (Barnard) Bailey in Lebanon; she survives.
Bill graduated from Thorntown High School in 1973.
He was employed at Boone County Highway in 1974, and also worked at Carr Excavating, Carson Trucking, and retired from Williams Farms in Ladoga in 2021.
Bill enjoyed various outdoor activities, such as collecting rocks, fishing, hunting, doing yard work, and attending sporting events with family. Most of all he enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors and sports with his kids and grandkids. Bill had his children and never stopped being a parent from that moment on, he showed up for his grandkids as the father whenever they needed him.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Bailey; children, William Daniel (Ashli Kincaid) Bailey of Crawfordsville and Daphne Bailey of Crawfordsville; grandchildren, Keygan Tyree, Janis Bailey Jack Carson, Kadi Lavigne, Mikeal Kincaid, Hannah Kincaid, Ava Kincaid, and Cloey Critney; brother, Robert “Bob” G. (Mary) Bailey of Brownsburg; sisters, Becky Tunnell of Lebanon, Barb Yates of Cloverdale, Sherrie (Rob) Wines of Crawfordsville, and Terri (Tony) Wines of Thorntown; brother-in-law, Bo Baumgardt of Crawfordsville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Baumgardt and brother-in-law, Kirk Yates.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Darlington Conservation Club, 6342 North 700 East, in Darlington, Indiana. Myers Mortuary in Lebanon, Indiana and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with his cremation arrangements.
Memorials may be made in his memory to the Darlington Conservation Club to have a tree planted in Bill’s honor.
