There have been many complaints about the placement of Blue Ridge and Green Meadows elementary school since they have been in existence.
At Tuesday’s Board of Works meeting, Community Schools of Frankfort Board of Education board member Bud McQuade went before the BOW and asked if the Board of Works would come up with a letter to INDOT asking for some kind of stop light or sign that would slow the traffic coming to the intersection of Kelley Avenue and Jackson Avenue on State Road 38/39.
“Off and on, you will hear people with concerns about that and the safety of our children,” said Mayor Judy Sheets. “Hopefully, we’ll send our support for him and we’ll see signs or lights of some sort be put up there. He (McQuade) said there are options out there.”
The Board of Works also approved work at the Neighborhood Center, which sits adjacent to the Paul Phillippe Resource Center on the city’s west side.
“It’s been several years since anything has been done at the Neighborhood Center as far as renovations or remodeling,” said Sheets. “We’re hoping to get the walls painted, new carpeting and new lighting. There were also some electrical issues down there.”
Sheets added they hope to have work done there done in early 2023.
In other news, the BOW approved the contract for work on the tennis courts at TPA Park and Dorner Park. They said the Aquatic Center management agreement would be signed at their first meeting next year.
The BOW also approved the 2022 budget encumbrances for 2023 in the amount of $462,069.88.
