Bob Scott

Mr. Robert “Bob” Joseph Scott, 80, of Thorntown, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family Monday morning, March 22, 2021.  He was born February 9, 1941 in Boone County, Indiana; a son of the late Joseph Oscar and Mary Louise (Saunders) Scott.

A life resident of Boone County, he graduated from Dover High School. Following high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, Reserve. On October 28, 1960, he was married to Sue Ann (Vidito) Scott at Dover Christian Church; she survives.

Bob began his career as owner and operator of Scott’s Garage in Dover. He then worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for Monarch Motors, and State Equipment Company\Brandeis in Indianapolis before working as a heavy equipment operator at Whitesville Mill in Crawfordsville, retiring in 2004.

Bob was president of Dover Little League for many years.  He also enjoyed livestock, raising and showing Yorkshire swine in his youth and later raising dairy goats.  He was a lifetime member of the Indiana and American Dairy Goat associations and Founder of the Boone County Dairy Goat Association.  Bob was the Indiana State Fair Dairy Goat superintendent for several years.  He was involved in the activities of his children and throughout, Sue was working at his side. Bob enjoyed driving his Bobcat as well as tinkering in the barn and around the farm. He could fix anything that was handed to him.  He was devoted to his family and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his wife:  Sue Ann Scott of Thorntown; four children, Jeffrey Joseph Scott and companion, Penny Spolyar of Thorntown, Todd Alan Scott and wife Marcy of Thorntown, Jason Lee Scott and wife Anna of Thorntown, Kasha Sue Smith and husband Evan of Thorntown; twelve grandchildren, Zachary Robert, Scott and wife Katie, Courtney Diane (Scott) Ford and husband David, Nicholas David Scott, John Robert Scott and wife Sarah, Ila Sue (Scott) Robinson and husband Adam, Levi Todd Scott, Cameron Alexander Beck, Lucas Robert Scott, Abigail Maria Scott, Adeline Maxine Smith, Emma Sue Smith, Hannah Grace Smith; six great grandchildren; brother-in-law, David Darbutt of Kannapolis, North Carolina; two nephews,  Adam (Amber) Darbutt of Mount Pleasant, North Carolina and Gregory (Lindsay) Darbutt of Concord, North Carolina.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Jane Darbutt.

Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2021 Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street in Lebanon. Private Family Memorial Services begins at 11:00 at the funeral home.
