Bomb Threat Investigation Results In Arrest In Cass County

Threats of a pipe bomb received by a Cass County financial institution led to the arrest of a Logansport man on Saturday.

On Saturday, Jan. 11, just before 9 a.m., the Cass County Sheriff’s Office received information from Cass County Central Dispatch of an alleged bomb threat at Beacon Credit Union located at 1405 W. Market St. in Logansport.

A preliminary investigation reportedly found the Beacon Credit Union Contact Center received two calls from a male reporting that he had planned to “blow up the building” with a pipe bomb, which caused units to respond to the scene and secure the area for further investigation. The facility was reportedly searched and no explosive devices were found.

Detectives were able to follow several leads to identify the caller, which led to a search warrant and arrest warrant to be obtained for his residence. The caller was identified at Jacob Rozzi, 27, of Logansport, and he was arrested without incident on charges of intimidation of a financial institution, level 5 felony, and intimidation, level 6felony.

Beacon Credit Union at 1405 W. Market St. was closed for the day as a result of the threat and investigation. The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information on the case has been asked to contact the Cass County Sheriff’s Office at 574-753-7800.
