The community has been invited to learn more about the 4-H project, “Our Environment,” next week and at the end of the month in Boone County where community youth may develop their skills and become an environmental leader.
Community members may learn more about the project and participate in a “dumpster dive” on Jan. 16 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lebanon Public Library or Jan. 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library in Zionsville.
The program has been cultivated to appeal to youth between third grade and 12th grade who strive to take action for a better world.
During the project, participants will explore ways to conserve natural resources and protect wildlife, design and lead community projects, such as tree planting, recycling drives or clean-up campaigns, learn about renewable and non-renewable natural resources as well as sustainable practices and develop leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Community members have been encouraged to join to make a lasting impact on their environment, gain a valuable knowledge about conservation techniques, meet like-minded peers and mentors who care about the planet and earn recognition for their efforts and grow their resume for college or future careers.
