Discover Boone County has announced that following the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, the Indiana community intends to collect items to support Boone, North Carolina as a form of disaster relief.
The community is currently seeking winter items, such as hats, gloves, scarves, socks, blankets and sleeping bags to support those who were displaced during the incoming colder weather.
“Known for its natural beauty, welcoming community, festivals and outdoor activities, this thriving tourism region has been greatly impacted by the damage from the recent hurricane,” Discover Boone County released. “With winter rapidly approaching in the mountainous areas of North Carolina, this campaign is focused on collecting essential winter items for those affected by the hurricane’s devastation.”
