A simple meeting during Police Week in 2021 has grown into a meaningful example of community connection for the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Major Brian Stevenson first met a young Lebanon student during Police Week several years ago. That brief interaction made a lasting impression, sparking the child’s admiration for local law enforcement.
This week, that connection came full circle when Deputy Wes Garst had the opportunity to give the same student a ride to Harney Elementary School in his patrol car — an experience that made for a memorable start to the school day.
Sheriff Tony Harris and the Boone County Sheriff’s Office say moments like these highlight the importance of building trust through positive, everyday interactions. Officials note that small gestures can have a big impact, helping strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
