Boone County Sheriff’s Office to Host Nationally Recognized Firearms and Personal Protection Training

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office, led by Sheriff Tony Harris, is hosting a series of advanced firearms and personal protection training courses this summer, featuring nationally recognized instructors and limited enrollment opportunities.

Among the offerings is the Gunsite – Indiana 150 Three-Day Pistol Course, a highly regarded program known nationwide for its emphasis on real-world defensive shooting, firearm safety, mindset, and performance under pressure. Gunsite training is widely trusted by law enforcement, military personnel, and civilian shooters, and organizers say this course presents a rare opportunity to train locally with Gunsite instructors.

In addition to the Gunsite course, two other specialized trainings will be offered:

Steve Tarani – Church, Home & Travel Protection, providing practical, reality-based instruction focused on protecting individuals, families, and places of worship in today’s security environment.

John Farnam – Defense Handgun, a defensive handgun course emphasizing mindset, tactics, and real-world application, taught by one of the most experienced instructors in the field.

All courses will be hosted by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, and officials note that seating is limited and classes are expected to fill quickly.

Full course descriptions, dates, and registration information are available on the Boone County Sheriff’s Office website.
