Bruce E. Spencer, 77, of Frankfort, Indiana, entered into rest on Monday, August 10, 2026, at IU Health Hospital in Frankfort.
He was born on March 1, 1949, in Frankfort, Indiana, to Bert and Ola Jean (Smith) Spencer. Bruce married the love of his life, Sue Mounts, on August 2, 1966, and together they shared a lifetime of love until she passed on March 19, 2025.
Bruce attended Frankfort Schools before opening his own bakery. He then became a mechanic and eventually owned Bruce’s Auto Shop. He spent many years working at Easy Credit Auto Sales until his retirement in 2013. Bruce was a hardworking man who took pride in his work and enjoyed helping others whenever he could.
Outside of work, Bruce enjoyed working on and repairing cars and watching TV with his wife, especially Gunsmoke. He was a wealth of knowledge and would spend a lot of time on the phone sharing his knowledge with others, and then be ornery and give you a hard time for not knowing. But his favorite time, was time that he spent with his family. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought him great joy, and he treasured the many memories they made together.
Bruce is survived by his two children, Bruce I. (Tabitha) Spencer and Eddie (Karma) Spencer; sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Mike) Shaw; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and his loving dog, Lucy.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sue; his parents; brothers, Bert Jr. and Winifred; and sisters, Martha Jean Eli, and Terry Lynn.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 10am to 12pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, with the funeral service to follow at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Bunnell Cemetery in Frankfort. Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
