Carrie Belle Gammon, 78, of Frankfort, passed away July 20, 2026 in her home. She was born on August 10, 1947 in Frankfort to Ralph and Peg (Huffer) Shirar. She married James K. Gammon on October 29, 1966 and he preceded her in death on December 11, 1986.
A lifelong Frankfort resident, she was a 1965 graduate of Frankfort High School. She worked for several years at Walmart as a manager in the toy department. She had also babysat many children in the Frankfort area and worked for Rainbow Connection Childcare where she was a cook. Carrie was a member of Connecting Point Church. Family was important to her, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren – she was very excited that her 6th great-grandchild is expected this year. She could often be found swinging on her front porch with her dog “Baby”. Carrie was an avid Coca-Cola collector, enjoyed reading Amish books, attending Indiana festivals, and loved tending her flowers at her house.
Surviving are her daughters: Theresa Maddock of Frankfort, Stephanie Smith of Jacksonville, FL, and Jennifer Hatfield (Jeff Golden) of Frankfort, significant other: Donald Logan of Rushville, and siblings: Jack (Marilyn) Shirar of Frankfort, Pat (Jack) Harshbarger of Kokomo, and Thelma (Lee) Donoho of Peru, along with 10 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother: Dennis Shirar.
A memorial celebration of life visitation will be held 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026 at Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort. A Graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Green Lawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Memorial donations may be made in Carrie’s honor to the Clinton County Humane Society, P.O.
