Chris Angeles Gears Up For State Cross Country Championship

Frankfort High School’s lone boys cross country regional competitor qualified for state with a time of 15:47, just three seconds away from his personal record.

Angeles competed at the Brownsburg regional against almost 250 student athletes from across the state of Indiana, placing 13th overall with a pace of 5 minutes and 5 seconds per mile, placing only one second behind Sherjeel Khan from Brownsburg, two seconds behind Landon Miller from Greencastle and three seconds behind Jack Hearld from Danville and Zachary Risner from Avon, marking a photo finish regional for Angeles.

Angeles qualified for the State Championship Meet as the fourth individual and secured his position as Clinton County’s top finisher during the regional. Angeles joined one sophomore, six juniors and eight seniors in the top 15 finishers as a junior at Frankfort High School.

The state championship will be held at Indiana State University with the boys race kicking off at noon. Community members are invited to attend to support Angeles as the sole representative of the Hot Dog team. Admission is $15 and may be purchased in advance.

Angeles was joined at the regional meet by numerous members of the Boone County and Clinton County community. He competed against Samuel Spees of Zionsville, 4th, Jack Turnbull of Zionsville, 6th, Hayden Kemple, 28th, of Clinton Prairie, Elijah Weaver, 40th, Elijah Bineyard, 41st, Joseph Spees, 42nd, and Dominick Dell, 71st of Zionsville, Ethan Fleischhauer, 82nd, and Brayden Clawson, 94th, of Clinton Prairie, Carter Cline, 115th, and Spencer Dunn, 141st, of Clinton Central, Charles Thompson, 175th, of Rossville, Diego Rangel, 204th, of Clinton Prairie, Isaac Threlkeld, 212th, and Alex Crockett, 221st, of Western Boone, Brayden Woollen, 222nd, of Rossville and Karson Neal, 241st, Chase Fleischhauer, 243rd, and Cameron Elliott, 245th, of Clinton Prairie.
