City officials and media members were invited to site visit Tuesday afternoon for a first-hand look at the new Aquatic Center currently going up at TPA Park on the site of the former pool.

It’s been nearly three years since Frankfort has had a pool for its residents. And, with the fact that the new facility is getting close to opening by Memorial Day, it was hard for people to hide their elation at the new project.

“It’s going to be awesome for kids to go and spend time,” said interim Parks Superintendent Jason Forsythe. “People come out and have birthday parties and things like that. I think it’s going to be an awesome thing for the community.”

Crews were working on slide along with work on the concession stands and pouring concrete.

“Our plan right now is to have it open Memorial Day through August,” said Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets. “From August 6 on, it looks like it will just be open on weekends because school will start and it will be hard to get staff at that time.”
