City Passes Ordinance for Paving

The Frankfort City Council passed a pair of ordinances on second and third readings Monday night.

The first dealt with an ordinance amending the 2022 salary ordinance. Mayor Judy Sheets said the $93,000 gained from this ordinance change will be used for paving.

The second was an additional appropriation ordinance so the city would have enough to pay all of their employees a $2,000 stipend on July 8. The difference was $6.713.

The city also announced that Lehnen’s Furniture and Mattress were the winners in a three-way bidding war for the property at 16 N. Main St. Lehnen’s wants to expand on its current location downtown at the corner of Clinton and Main street. One business that could be affected by that move would be Frankfort Nutrition, who is in between Lehnen’s and the old Frankfort utility billing office at 16 N. Main.

Sheets also said the four bids the Board of Works received on the Community Crossings Grant were disappointing. The city has about $660,000 available to spend for another of paving. However, bids that came in ranged from $780,000 to $980,000.
