Clinton County Council Hears How Much They Will Receive From Opioid Settlement

The Clinton County Council heard a report Tuesday morning from Lorra Archibald of the Opioid Settlement Funding Committee and Brett Barton from Community Corrections on the funds the county would receive from the settlement reached in 2021.

“They made a recommendation for how we should spend that first $103,000 the county is getting from the settlement,” said Clinton County Council President Alan Dunn. “So, we appropriated to those funds as a council. Now, it goes to the (Clinton County) Commissioners and the Commissioners will have a final says on what programs get the funding.”

In other news, council members heard a update from representatives of Community Howard Behavioral Health on their status in the community.

“I feel like in the past there has been some disconnect from the vendor that executes that spending in this case Howard Community Health,” said Dunn. “We don’t always get the communications that tells how our investment is being spent. So today I thought was good. We got really good communication and we learned a lot about some of the financial challenges they’re having in the industry is having in the mental health service.”

Dunn added he feels they will have better communications with Community Howard and have some accountability moving forward,

Last month, Community Howard announced it was leaving Frankfort.
