The Clinton County Horseshoe Pitchers Association hosted a fundraising event at the Curt Day Horseshoe Courts at Dorner Park at 859 S. Clay St. in Frankfort on Aug. 17 to raise funds for the Frankfort Police Department with a focus on the K9 Unit alongside Project Lifesaver.
On Aug. 17, community members were invited to participate in rounds of horseshoes and cornhole as they raised funds for the two causes with 60% of funds raised being donated to the Frankfort Police Department K9 Unit and 40% of the funds raised benefiting the Project Lifesaver program. Entry fees were $10 for horseshoes and $5 for cornhole with children 12 and under being free to play.
As an additional incentive, K9 dogs and handlers as well as representatives from Project Lifesaver were in attendance to speak with the community and showcase what the funds would benefit.
“A huge shoutout to Same Payne, Troy Pearcy and all the horseshoe pitchers for including our Frankfort K9 Unit and Project Lifesaver for their horseshoe fundraiser,” the Frankfort Police Department released. “Both programs are vital to our mission of community safety. Funds raised will go to help replace a retired K9 and towards Clinton County Project Lifesaver which is a local 501(c)(3) that assists in locating missing people.”
Project Lifesaver for Clinton County is a public safety program designed to protect and locate missing persons due to wandering by utilizing state-of-the-art technology to assist those who care for people with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Autism, Down Syndrome and other cognitive conditions that may cause wandering.
