COACH Kids of Clinton County represented the county during the Indiana Afterschool Network “Out of School Time” Day at the Indiana Statehouse yesterday, Feb. 12 to advocate for out of school time programs, connect with organizations from across the state and meet with legislators.

During the event, the COACH Kids team shared the importance of out of school programming in Clinton County, including its benefits and statistics from the youth in the community who participate and do not participate in afterschool programming. The COACH Kids team was able to work as advocates for the needs of the youth served and share the importance and impact that the programs have on the youth as well as their families.

COACH Kids Executive Director Katie Schimmel shared her thoughts regarding the organization’s inclusion in the event.

“When we were invited to attend this event, it was a no brainer for me! Being able to support Indiana Afterschool Network, work with other organizations, and advocate the importance of these programs was an honor,” Schimmel said. “These programs do more than allow child care for the kids, they are just as impactful as the educations our school systems provide. Strengthening the intellectual, social and emotional skills of our children is a key component to their overall wellbeing. I am proud to represent Clinton County and being a voice for those we serve. I can’t thank IASN enough for the invitation and partnership we have developed.”
