The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory in effect beginning at 1:00am and ending at 1:00pm Friday for the counties of Carroll-Warren-Tippecanoe-Clinton-Howard-Fountain-Montgomery- Boone-Tipton-Hamilton-Madison-Delaware-Randolph-Vermillion-Parke- Putnam-Hendricks-Marion-Hancock-Henry-Vigo-Clay- Including the cities of West Lebanon, West Lafayette, Fishers, Delphi, Veedersburg, Tipton, Rosedale, Attica, Brownsburg, Parker City, Indianapolis, Montezuma, Terre Haute, New Castle, Carmel, Greenfield, Williamsport, Union City, Danville, Lebanon, Greencastle, Anderson, Covington, Plainfield, Kokomo, Fairview Park, Muncie, Lafayette, Crawfordsville, Winchester, Rockville, Brazil, Zionsville, Farmland, Frankfort, Flora, Noblesville, and Clinton.
Very cold wind chills as low as 21 below zero are expected. The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.
