Community Members Reminded To Take Precautions During New Year Festivities

The Burrows Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department released New Year’s Eve safety tips for those who will participate in consuming alcohol during the holiday festivities.

The department firstly encouraged community members to not drive on New Year’s Eve, regardless of whether they are partaking in drinking, if possible. The department stated that more people are statistically driving under the influence on Dec. 31 and encouraged all community members to attempt to use public transportation, if available, or exercise extreme caution to avoid potentially dangerous accidents.

Community members have also been encouraged, as with every day, to designate a driver if they are partaking in drinking and avoid drinking and driving for the safety of others and their own safety.

Community members are also encouraged to stick together, especially if they attend parties, night clubs or other social gatherings that provide a fast-paced night. Community members are encouraged to travel in groups and have a safety net around them in the fast-paced environments.

Community members are also encouraged to monitor their alcohol intake as drinking too much alcohol could result in lethal effects.

All community members have been reminded to contact authorities immediately in the case of suspected drinking and driving or driving under the influence of substances.
