Clinton County has appointed Melissa Hodson-Ostler, BSN, RN, as Interim Public Health Administrator. A Clinton County native and long-time healthcare leader, she brings 30 years of nursing and public health experience to the role.
Hodson-Ostler spent 29 years at Indiana University Health, most recently serving as Manager of Quality and Infection Prevention. Her professional background includes extensive experience in hospital administration, quality and risk management, regulatory compliance, infection prevention and disease response, state reporting, and community outreach.
Hodson-Ostler’s top priorities in her new role include collaborating with the county council, commissioners, and community partners to secure funding opportunities and supporting the department’s staff by ensuring they have the resources needed to succeed.
“This work is deeply personal to me,” says Hodson-Ostler. “Public health is a vital service to every aspect of our daily lives. It’s not only record keeping and immunizations. It is also safe food, living, and water supplies. It is access to care, control of communicable diseases, trauma and injury prevention, better maternal and fetal outcomes, wellness education, and ensuring our community is safe for future generations.”
In addition to her professional qualifications, Hodson-Ostler is deeply rooted in the Clinton County community. She has been long active in the sports and church communities and has a passion for civil service.
