Delbert Jerry Ping, 81, of Frankfort, passed away January 4, 2025 at the Indiana Veterans Home, West Lafayette, Indiana.  He was born February 9, 1943 in Pulaski County, Kentucky to Perry & L. Viola (Vaught) Ping.  He married Sharon Hutchison on November 17, 1973 in Frankfort and she survives.

Delbert was a graduate of Pulaski County High School in Somerset, Kentucky and lived in Pulaski County, Kentucky from 1943-1972.  In 1972 he moved to Indianapolis until 1983, when he moved to Frankfort, Indiana.  He was a machine repairman, working for Mitchel & Scott Machine Company, Indianapolis.  Delbert proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as Staff Sargent, jet engine mechanic, serving in Vietnam.  He was a member of the St. Matthew United Methodist Church, American Legion in Frankfort, Clinton County Antique Machinery Club and VFW in Peru, IN.  Delbert enjoyed clocks, collecting unique items, traveling, eating trips, especially to MCL, and restoring farm equipment.

Delbert is survived by his wife, Sharon Ping of Frankfort, son, Aaron (Jennifer) Ping of Delphi, sister, Virgene Renner of Somerset, KY, brothers, Bobby (Ruby) Ping of Indianapolis and twin, Denton (Patty) Ping of Somerset, KY, granddaughter, Shelby Ping of Logansport and step-grandson, Ryley Von Tobel of Delphi.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Willene Lee and Brothers, Billy Ping, Warner Ping and George Wayne Ping.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort.  Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.  Following cremation, Delbert will be buried in Green Lawn Cemetery, Frankfort, IN and Woodstock Cemetery, Somerset, KY at a later date. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Somerset, KY.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the USO or Alzheimer’s Foundation.  Please visit goodwinfuneralhome.com, where you may leave a condolence.
