The Delphi Lady Oracles softball team fell to the Hebron Hawks in the Semi-State Semi-Finals matchup that led to the end of the season with a final score of 11 to 3 in favor of the Hawks.

The Delphi Lady Oracles would take on the Hebron Hawks during the Semi-State Semi-Finals game, but the Lady Oracles struggled to rev up their bats compared to the Hawks who smashed two home runs and one grand slam during the face off.

The Lady Oracles would see two RBIs during the game and one home run from Jenna Roth to secure their three runs during the game. However, the Hawks would keep their bats blazing, scoring 14 hits, eight RBIs and two home runs to gain their lead of 11 runs by the conclusion of the game.

With only four hits from Abby Pearson, Kylynn Spitznagle, Jenna Roth and Emma Titus, the Lady Oracles were unable to gain the ground needed to overtake the Hawks, concluding their 2024 season. The Lady Oracles did not lose their fire during the game as Lacey Pickering would steal three bases and Emma Titus would steal one base as they attempting to enter scoring position.

The Lady Oracles’ fielding held strong as they only saw three errors racked up during the game, but the Hawks’ consistent bats would break pitcher Lexi Miller’s streak of securing more than 10 strikeouts per game, proving that the offense from the Hawks was aggressive rather than faults from the Lady Oracles’ defense.

Miller would rack up another seven innings pitched and nine strikeouts, but 13 hits and one walk would lead to 11 runs. Statistics show that only three runs were considered “earned runs” by the scorekeepers.

The statistics garnered from the Hawks showcased that the Lady Oracles were able to connect with the ball but could not transfer the plays into bases and runs. Hawk Addison Toczek racked up three innings pitched with three strikeouts with only two hits and one earned run from the Oracles. Brooke Cunningham racked up four innings pitched and four strikeouts with only two hits and two earned runs amongst three walks.

With their victory, the Hawks faced off against the Lapel Bulldogs, falling in the Semi-State Championship with a final score of 6 to 4. The Lapel Bulldogs will face off against the Cascade Cadets on Friday, June 7 at 5:30 p.m. at Purdue University for the State Champion title.

The Delphi Lady Oracles showcased an outstanding season as they secured their Sectional title against the Carroll Cougars in a rival showdown and continued to secure their Regional title against the Rochester Zebras, both ending with shutout wins with a score of 5 to 0 against the Cougars and 3 to 0 against the Zebras.
