Delphi Main Street, Inc., in partnership with Mayor Yates and the Delphi Parks Board, is proud to announce a transformative gift from Don and Nancy (Bowen) Longwith, whose longstanding ties to the Delphi community span generations. The generous donation of $200,000 will significantly enhance Riley Park, reflecting the family’s deep ties to the area and their commitment to preserving and improving the quality of life in Delphi for generations to come.
The Bowen family, whose history in Delphi spans multiple generations, made the gift in honor of their connection to the community and the many memories formed at Riley Park over 70 years ago. Their donation will support a range of improvements, including the addition of pickle ball courts, a major renovation of the tennis and basketball courts as well as the addition of a shelter/gazebo.
“Riley Park holds a special place in the hearts of so many in Delphi, and we are honored to help support its future,” said Nancy, speaking on behalf of the family. Nancy shared fond memories of playing tennis at the park when she was a teenager. “This park was a part of our childhoods, and we want to make sure it continues to be a place where families can gather, play, and make memories.”
Mayor Yates praised the donation as a milestone moment for the city. “The Bowen/Longwith family’s generous contribution is not just a gift to Riley Park — it’s a gift to the entire community. Their dedication to preserving our shared spaces and investing in Delphi’s future is truly inspiring.”
The City of Delphi Parks Board President, Kate Evans is “excited to renovate our courts and look forward to all of the memories and events yet to come! We are beyond grateful for the generosity of Nancy Longwith and her family for this amazing gift.”
Plans are currently underway to begin improvements this year and a public celebration with ribbon-cutting event to be announced in the coming months.
A special recognition event is being planned for later this year, where the community will have an opportunity to celebrate the Bowen/Longwith family’s contribution and the positive change it will bring.
