Delphi Superintendent Warns Of Scam Targeting Delphi Families

Delphi Community School Corporation Superintendent Lindsey Brown released a statement regarding recent reports of targeted scams aimed at Delphi families.

Brown’s statement read:

I am writing today to inform you about an important issue concerning the safety and privacy of your family’s personal information. Recently, there have been reports of targeted scams aimed at some Delphi families, where scammers have represented themselves as employees of our school in an attempt to collect sensitive information. They may even claim to already have personal information based on a form they say has been filled out by the family. These scams are dangerous and have not originated from the school. They may ask for details such as Social Security numbers, birth certificates, or other private information about your children. DO NOT release this information.

To ensure the safety and privacy of our students and their families, please remember that Delphi Community School Corporation will never request personal information over the phone or via unsolicited messages. Protecting your family from these targeted scams is a priority, and we want to remind you of the following important tips:

  • Do not provide personal information
    • If you receive an unsolicited call or message and did not initiate the contact, do not share any personal information about you or your children.
  • Contact the school directly
    • If you have any doubts about the legitimacy of a message or call, contact us directly using the official phone numbers and contact information provided on our website at www.delphi.k12.in.us As a reminder, all Delphi Community School employees will always identify themselves by name and title when contacting you.
  • Report suspicious activity
    • If you suspect that you have been targeted by a scam or fraudulent attempt, we encourage you to report it immediately to our local police or sheriff’s department. Your prompt action can help prevent others from becoming victims.

Your family’s safety is of utmost importance to us. Please remain vigilant and cautious about any unsolicited requests for personal information. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s school or our central office.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter and for your continued partnership in keeping our school community safe.
