Distracted Driving Leads To Vehicle Fire In Carroll County

Reports of distracted driving led to a crash and a subsequent vehicle fire in Carroll County on Monday with no injuries reported.

On Aug. 19, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Delphi Fire Department and Carroll County EMS reportedly responded to reports of a fire on State Road 25 resulting from a vehicle crash.

The agencies reportedly received a report of a property damage crash where a vehicle rear-ended a tractor and then caught fire in the southbound lanes of State Road 25 near County Road 400 West.

First responders reported that the driver of the vehicle and the driver of the tractor were not injured, and the driver of the vehicle reportedly advised responders that she was distracted by her cellphone while driving, which caused her not to see the tractor and led to the crash.

Complete Auto was reportedly called to impound the vehicle.

“The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind everyone to stay off of their cellphones while operating a vehicle,” Carroll County Deputy Mitch Catron said.
