Donald Lee Bowers

Donnie, as he was known by most of his friends, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, in his home. He was born in Ohio on December 12, 1961, and was adopted by Phillip Don and Shirley Jean Bowers in 1962.

Donnie attended Lebanon High School and graduated from Arthur Campbell High School in Plainfield. He also attended Frigidaire appliance school to help with his father in the family business, Bowers Electric.

Donnie did not know a stranger. He would strike up a conversation with anyone, especially if they liked his favorite band KISS. Donnie’s love for cats and dogs knew no bounds. He would always stop for any injured animal to ensure its needs were met.

Donnie has been a constant companion and total support for his sister since their fathers passing at such a young age for both. He was a gentle soul who loved people without judgment and with no concern for what the world thought.

Donnie was the proudest of his accomplished sobriety from alcohol for over 13 years. Donnie was in charge of AA meetings at the Catholic church and made sure doors were opened and coffee made. He sponsored several individuals. Donnie attended church when he was able, at Mechanicsburg Church. The bus would pick him up, and he enjoyed singing in the choir.

Survivors include his beloved sister, Jennifer K. (Brian) Boyland, nephew, Bryson and his beloved dog, Peanut.

He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Don Bowers in 1985 and his mother, Shirley Jean Bowers in 2008.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with his cremation.
