Don’t Put All Your Trees in One Basket Coming to Frankfort Library

Dennis Hoffman will be teaching a class entitled “Don’t Put All Your Trees in One Basket” in the lower level meeting room at the Frankfort Community Public Library on Saturday, August 5, at 2:30 p.m.  Online trees and databases have revolutionized the way we research our family history.  Several sites allow you to build trees and maintain your research. Such sites make it easy for cousins to connect through records and DNA.  However, is that the best place to store the research you have worked hard to compile?  What is the best way to make your genealogy data available to friends and family and yet keep it safe and under your control?  We will look at options that will assure that our data is safe and still easily accessible.

A life-long Clinton County resident, Hoffman completed a BS in Social Studies and Secondary Education at Ball State and a Masters of Library Science at Indiana University.  When he moved into his great-grandmother’s house in 1978, he found a lifetime of her memories, newspaper clippings, and letters. He discovered that his passion for history could also include his own family.  The history of his family has been an addiction for forty years.

The cost of the class is $2, and registration is required.  To register, call 765-654-8746, visit myfcpl.org/calendar, or stop by the library.
