Dorothy Elizabeth Chaney Adams, 84, of Frankfort, Indiana, passed away September 29, 2024 at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. She was born on January 29, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois to Art and Opal (Cochran) Thiel. She married Donald Max Chaney on July 12, 1958 and he preceded her in death on December 12, 2012. She married Frank Adams in 2017 and he survives.
Dorothy was a graduate of Colfax High School and had worked many years as office manager at Ray Rudd Buick in Frankfort, retiring in 2008. She was a member of the Manson Congregational Christian Church and was very active there, including the after school tutoring program. Dorothy was also a member of Zonta and had volunteered at the Salvation Army and as a pink lady at the Frankfort Hospital, accumulating over 4,000 hours. She enjoyed the people she met through being involved with the church and many different organizations.
Surviving along with her husband, Frank are her Grandsons: John Ryan Wheeler of Lafayette and Cody Alan Wheeler of Frankfort; Children: Tony (Kathy) Adams of Summer Shade, Kentucky and Deanna Sheda of Indianapolis; and her Brother and Sister-in-law: James and Judith Chaney of Frankfort. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Donald Chaney, daughter: Dianna Chaney, children: Jeffery Adams, Missy Hedges, and Tammy Gregg, her brothers: Douglas and Ronald Thiel, and sister and brother-in-law: Opal and Ray Leap.
Friends may visit 1-4 p.m. Sunday, October 6, 2024 at Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort. A Funeral Service, with Pastor John Fitzgerald officiating, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 7, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Bunnell Cemetery, Frankfort. After the burial, friends are invited to Manson Congregational Christian Church for lunch and a Celebration of Dorothy’s life.
