Mr. Edward Thomas Cone, 79, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in New York, New York, on September 14, 1944, the son of the late Larry and Jeannette (Songy) Cone.
On October 1, 1988, he was united in marriage to Alaine Lee (Buckmaster) Cone. She preceded him in death on January 21, 2023.
Edward was a 1962 graduate of Scecina Memorial High School in Indianapolis and later served his country honorably in the United States Airforce. He worked as a deputy for the Marion County Sheriff’s office for many years.
He was a member of the Whitestown American Legion Post 410. His hobbies included collecting firearms and knives.
Survivors include his children, William (Jennifer) Cone of Avon, Safiyah (Yusuf) Iqbal of Chico, California, Steve Zupan of Bradenton, Florida, and Nina Muhney of McCordsville; stepchildren, Bill (Gretta) Langley of Jacksonville, Florida and Shay Lynn Langley of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral Services with Military Rites are planned for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of services. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery in Zionsville.
