Homestead Resources is inviting the community to experience Evil on Erie: The Final Fright on Friday and Saturday evenings throughout October. This year marks the final season of the award-winning, volunteer-powered haunted attraction, which has become a Halloween tradition in the Greater Lafayette area.
A dedicated team of volunteers transforms an old warehouse at 1240 Erie Street into the Evil on Erie haunted attraction. The experience takes countless hours of volunteer creativity, planning, construction, coordination and rehearsal.
“We like to say this group scares because they care,” said Jim Slaven, lead volunteer of Evil on Erie and a Homestead Resources board member. “We’ve loved supporting Homestead Resources.”
The haunt has also been part of Homestead Resources’ youth programming for years. What began as a traditional fundraising effort evolved into a financial education program for area youth.
“Teens have a place to go after school where they learn how to manage finances, build themed rooms and help design sets for Evil on Erie,” said Marie Morse, executive director of Homestead Resources. “The haunt has been a great partnership, and we’re excited to celebrate the volunteers who make it possible, especially this year for The Final Fright.”
From set-building and makeup to terrifying characters and unexpected scares, Evil on Erie has made nearly 50,000 guests scream over the years.
Homestead Resources is encouraging the community to come out, share in the nostalgia and experience one final fright this October.
Evil on Erie: The Final Fright
Evil on Erie is located at 1240 Erie Street, between 18th and Greenbush Streets in Lafayette.
The haunted attraction will be open Friday and Saturday evenings on October 2-3, 9-10, 16-17, 23-24 and 30-31.
Doors open at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are recommended and are available through Homestead Resources and Evil on Erie.
Homestead Resources is a nonprofit housing counseling agency and Community Development Financial Institution located in Lafayette. The organization serves northwestern Indiana, including Benton, Boone, Carroll, Clinton, Fountain, Montgomery, Putnam, Tippecanoe, Warren and White counties.
