Fingers Crossed to Fire Up Splash Pad Soon

The splash pad at Prairie Creek Park can bring smiles and fun to area families.  Two cracks in elbow pipes in a very challenging location had to be fixed before the Prairie Creek Park Splash Pad could be operational.

The problem with the pipe repair was that two culprit cracks were in a very difficult location to reach and repair.   Normal repair technique would tear out expensive concrete and infrastructure just to reach the cracked pipes.

The repair technique finally used to address the problem involved epoxy spray injected from an accessible point to reach the two cracks.  Pipes recently passed a post-repair pressure test and now splash pad operation has to meet Health Department standards before re-opening.

If everything goes right, it is possible Frankfort will see a functioning splash pad sometime early next week.  There are a few items on the checklist before that can happen, but prospects look good for the Splash Pad to work again soon.
