Floyd Ernest “Ernie” Snyder, 91, of Thorntown, Indiana, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. He was born May 25, 1933, in Arcadia, Indiana, a son of the late Floyd Ernest and Lillian Genevieve (White) Snyder.
He was married to Wanda Faye (Henderson) Snyder on May 14, 1954, in Atlanta, Indiana. They shared 47 years together prior to her passing on July 10, 2001.
Raised in Arcadia, Ernie was a 1952 graduate of Jackson Central High School. Following school, he served his country honorably in the United States Army. He worked as a logger and timber buyer for many years, having owned and operated Thorntown Sawmill.
Ernie was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 113 in Thorntown. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, showing horses, and was an avid Indianapolis Pacers fan. He loved his family and enjoyed many wonderful times together.
Survivors include his two children, Karen F. Miller of Lebanon and Ernest E. Snyder of Frankfort; and six grandchildren, Jacob Snyder, Stefanie Greenlief, Klayton Miller, Elijah Douglas, Joe Douglas, and Steven Douglas.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ernie was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon G. Snyder; grandson, Joshua Lewellen; sister, Ruth Ann Blount; and brother, William E. “Bill” Snyder.
Funeral Services with Masonic Rites are planned for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of services. Interment will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
