The Lebanon Community School Corporation announced that four new teachers at Hattie B. Stokes Elementary School were honored with $500 from the Lebanon Educational Foundation that will be utilized for classroom supplies.
The endowment that funds the $500 grants for the first-year teachers has been funded by Mr. and Mrs. David Summers to continue the duo’s steadfast commitment to enhancing the educational experience for both students and staff.
The corporation stated that endowment is dedicated to supporting first-year teachers by supplying monetary means to invigorate the classroom dynamics by ensuring that all school supplies are available for the students.
Over the past three years, the Summers’ have made a significant impact on the elementary community by providing the funding for the first-year teachers.
This year’s recipients included 5th-Grade Teacher Bill Pawlak, 2nd-Grade Teacher Gabby Brewer, 4th-Grade Teacher Grace Egler and 5th-Grade Teacher Lydia Diehl. Brewer elaborated on the honor of being selected for the donation from the foundation.
“The support that LEF gave us left all the first-year teachers at Hattie B. Stokes speechless,” Brewer said. “Their generosity has helped relieve stress from being a first-year teacher. This grant impacted my work because it’s allowed me to contribute to my classroom in ways I didn’t think I would be able to. My students have gotten more books, a bigger rug and flexible seating. I am so thankful for the support of LEF, and I know my students are too.”
