Historic Case Arena was packed on Thursday for a Volleyball match between Clinton Prairie and Frankfort.
Fans for both sides packed the stands for a great match and cause. The teams came together to bring awareness to mental health and its importance in Clinton County.
“Mental health is just as important as physical health,” Clinton Prairie volleyball coach Kathy Martin said. “And while we may never know how many people are impacted by these games if it makes a difference to just one person, then it is all worth it.”
Martin, who is also the director of operations for Healthy Communities of Clinton County, said these mental health games are put on by healthy communities as a way to support mental health in our community.
“Coach Rushton is always on board for these games every year and to bring awareness to mental health with the crowd and student sections both teams had last night was incredible,” Martin said.
The atmosphere and talent of both squads led to an electric match. Frankfort entered the contest 16-8 and the Gophers came in 9-12.
The first set went back and forth before Frankfort pulled away to win 25-21. Clinton Prarie came out strong it set two, taking it 25-13. The final two sets were each decided by two points as both teams were neck-and-neck throughout the match. Frankfort was able to win set three 26-24 and took the final set 25-23 to win the match 3-1.
With the win, Frankfort improves to 17-8 and sets their eyes on sweeping the county on Tuesday when they match up against Clinton Central.

“Kudos to both teams on a great night of volleyball,” Martin said. “Even though we didn’t get the win, last night is what Clinton County volleyball is all about, and both Coach Rushton and I were so excited to see that at Case Arena.”
