Christmas Tree Lighting Festival Organizer MaryLynn Peter announced the itinerary for the festival this year set for Saturday, Dec. 7 following the Christmas Parade through downtown Frankfort.
The festival will kick off at Prairie Creek Park at 4:30 p.m. with three dance routines from Stage 1 Dance Studio, which will be followed by performances from the Frankfort High School Orchestra at 5:30 p.m.
At 6:30 p.m., the Lip Sync Contest will dance off on The Farmers Bank Performance Center Stage with choices to lip sync to Santa Baby, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus and Jingle Bell Rock with a winners’ round to Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree. Peter requested participants above the age of 16 to participate this year.
At 7:15 p.m., prizes will be awarded for the Best Men, Women and Kids Ugly Christmas Sweater during the annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest.
The festivities culminate in the lighting of the tree at 8 p.m. where the winner of the coloring contest will light up the tree alongside Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets.
“Let’s have some fun,” Peter wrote. “Practice those songs and get your best sweater ready.”
Peter also announced that through the Tree Lighting Festival Auction this year, she was able to raise $2,464.67 that will be utilized to continue improving the festival this year and in the future.
