Community members have been invited to join the Frankfort Community Public Library learn more about how investigators utilize genetic genealogy to solve cold cases on Sept. 14.
The “Investigative Genetic Genealogy” course with Robert Sliwinski will launch its investigation into the genetic genealogy utilize to solve cold cases on Sept. 14 at 3 p.m. in the lower level meeting room at the library. During the presentation, Sliwinski will detail how DNA technologies utilized by genetic genealogists have aided investigators in locating criminals who evaded law enforcement for decades, including techniques used to rule out potential suspects and solve old cases that have DNA evidence.
Sliwinski provides a wealth of information through his bachelor’s degree in biology and art from Knox College and his master’s degree in zoology from Western Illinois University, which led him to found DNA Explorers where he provides professional services to those who have submitted DNA for testing for ancestry purposes, providing assistance with interpretation. During his genetic genealogy presentations, Sliwinski is known for his fascinating and colorful graphics alongside hilarious stories to bring the subject to an understandable level for beginners.
