The Frankfort Fire Department and the Frankfort Police Department competed alongside fire departments and police departments across the state in the first Battle of the Badges shooting competition with the police departments bringing home the victory with a 511 total score.
The Frankfort Fire Department ended the competition with a score of 161, barely missing out on the top three scores for the fire departments, and the Frankfort Police Department secured a score of 130, tying with the Warsaw Police Department.
“This competition helped raise money for both fire and police chief associations,” the fire department released. “Thank you all for putting together a great fundraiser and thanks to Envoy for their sponsorship of our local departments.”
The final scores showed the top three of the fire departments being the Wabash Fire Department with a score of 165, the Carmel Fire Department with a score of 164 and the Fishers Fire Department with a score of 163. The competition saw the Sugar Creek Fire Department secure a score of 145, the Westfield Fire Department score 130, the La Porte Fire Department score 150, the Indiana Fire Chiefs Association score 122 and the Westfield Fire Department 2.0 score 91.
The final scores showed the top three of the police departments being the Churubusco Police Department with a score of 176, the Tipton Police Department with a score of 169 and the Evansville Police Department with a score of 166. The competition also saw the Carmel Police Department secure a score of 152, the Ligonier Police Department score 127, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office score 150, the St. Joseph County Police score 145, the Warsaw Police Department score 130, the Greenfield Police Department score 103, the Auburn Police Department score 150 and the Westfield Police Department score 149.
The organizers expressed their interests in continuing the Battle of the Badges shooting competition in future years, eventually solidifying the competition as an annual event to continue raising funds for the police and fire chiefs associations.
