Frankfort Hot Dogs Volleyball Teams Take Down The Chargers

The Hot Dogs Varsity and JV volleyball teams padded their records for the start of the fall with two victories against the North Montgomery Chargers.

The Frankfort volleyball team traveled to North Montgomery on Wednesday evening to face off against the Chargers on the JV and Varsity levels, securing two victories to bump the season record to 6 to 1 for the Varsity team and 3 to 0 for the JV team.

In Varsity action, the Hot Dogs struggled with serving throughout the match, which led to the showdown lasting for four games. Jalen Smith was highlighted for her 28 assists, four aces and 11 digs, which was supplemented by Lily Rockhold with 15 kills, Justine Thomas with nine kills and Chloe Moudy with five kills.

Caroline Queen led the defense throughout the match with 18 digs, which was followed by Ashley Zheng with 13 digs and Morgan Harrington with 10 digs.

The two highlighted plays for the match were attributed to Addy Keck and Daizy Santos Valdez when Santos Valdez kicked off a streak for the team with an ace at a cruicial moment before picking up three digs in game four. Keck proved to impress the audiences as she clutched the end of game four as the Hot Dogs trailed 23 to 24, leading to Keck putting away an overpass, which sparked the momentum that the team needed for the remainder of the match.

The Varsity team now boasts a record of 6 to 1 and will host Delphi at home tonight, Aug. 29 for Teacher Appreciation Night.

In JV action, Grace Myers energized the match from the beginning, ending the match with four aces and 10 assists, which was supplemented by Morgan Berry with four digs, Khloe Kingma with four kills and Erin Wills with three aces. Kynlee Myers and Maddi Shoemaker were also highlighted for three kills each, and Bella Vega picked up four digs for the team to round out the stellar performances Wednesday night. With the victory over the Chargers, the Hot Dogs JV team now stands with a record of 3 to 0.
