INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 2, 2026) – A Frankfort concrete mixer truck driver has won the 2026 National Mixer Driver Championship in Nashville, Tennessee.
At the end of this article is a short video of Jon describing how he felt when he heard his name announced as the National Champion.
Jon Sheets, a 12-year driver for Irving Materials Inc.’s (imi) who drives out of the company’s Frankfort plant, won the championship after competing against 124 other drivers representing 41 states to claim the prestigious Mullings Cup and the title of national champion.

The competition took place Oct. 17-18 during the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s annual ConcreteWorks conference. The national championship tests drivers’ professional knowledge, truck inspection abilities, safety practices and driving precision through a series of written and hands-on challenges. Sheets also earned the highest score in the competition’s obstacle course, demonstrating his precision and skill behind the wheel against the nation’s top mixer drivers.
“Blown away. Absolutely blown away,” Sheets said following his victory. “This rodeo lifts the drivers up and puts them in the spotlight. This is a whole other level of appreciation. That’s what makes this thing special.”
Sheets previously won the Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s Mixer Driver Championship in both 2025 and 2026, earning the opportunity to represent Indiana nationally each year. He finished fourth at the 2025 national championship before returning this year to claim the top honor.
His championship-winning performance will also receive national television exposure. For the first time, ESPN served as the official broadcast partner of the National Mixer Driver Championship. The competition was captured in Nashville and will broadcast in August 2027 as part of ESPN8: The Ocho, a programming event featuring unique sports and competitions from around the country. The championship is also expected to receive additional exposure through rebroadcasts across ESPN’s networks and digital platforms during the following year.
“This is an incredible accomplishment for Jon and something everyone in Frankfort and across Indiana can be proud of,” said IRMCA Executive Director Chad Montgomery. “To compete against the best drivers in the country and come away as the national champion is a tremendous achievement. Jon represents the knowledge, dedication and professionalism of the men and women who safely deliver the concrete used to build our communities every day.”
Sheets received a $6,000 cash prize along with the Mullings Cup, awarded annually to the national champion.
The 2026 event marked the 20th National Mixer Driver Championship, which recognizes the industry’s top professional drivers. Competitors qualify through state association and company-sponsored competitions held across the country.
