Frankfort Officer Named Region 4 School Resource Officer of the Year

The Frankfort Police Department is celebrating Officer Rob Hession after he was selected as the Indiana School Resource Officer Association’s Region 4 School Resource Officer of the Year.

Hession will receive the award during the association’s annual conference in June in Michigan City.

A member of the Frankfort Police Department for nearly 27 years, Hession has served as the school resource officer at Blue Ridge and Green Meadow elementary schools since February 2018.

Department officials say his dedication to the children of the community is evident every day through his positive presence in the schools and his commitment to student growth and well-being.

In addition to maintaining safety on campus, Hession is known for building strong relationships with students and staff. He frequently visits classrooms to read to students and encourage literacy and personal development. He is also recognized for bringing joy and enthusiasm to the school environment, whether decorating his desk for holidays or dressing in a turkey costume to celebrate Thanksgiving with students.

After nearly three decades in law enforcement, officials say Hession’s passion for supporting young people continues to be his greatest motivation.

“He does not just patrol the halls, he enriches them,” the department said in announcing the honor.
