A 56-year-old Frankfort woman was killed in a late-night crash Tuesday at a Fishers roundabout, and the driver of the other vehicle was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death.
According to the Fishers Police Department, officers and medics were dispatched shortly after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, to the roundabout at 96th Street and Allisonville Road on the border of Fishers and Indianapolis.
When first responders arrived, they found a white Hyundai Palisade with its driver deceased inside the vehicle. The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as Susann Hayden-Tindall, 56, of Frankfort.
Police said the driver of the other vehicle, a black Ford F-250 identified as Cory Amick, remained at the scene and refused medical treatment.
According to investigators, Amick refused to perform field sobriety tests. Officers then obtained a search warrant to collect a blood sample as part of the investigation.
Fishers Police said investigators reviewed footage from a nearby license plate reader camera during the crash investigation. The video reportedly shows the Ford F-250 traveling at a high rate of speed through the roundabout before striking the Hyundai Palisade. Police said the footage supports the preliminary findings of the department’s crash reconstruction team regarding the cause of the collision.
Amick was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death, a Level 4 felony under Indiana law. The Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office will determine whether formal charges will be filed. Police said Amick was not booked into jail following the investigation.
