Franklin Theodore Oliphant, 82, formerly of Lebanon, was called to eternal rest on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Majestic Care Center in Bloomington, Indiana. He was born on November 1, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana, a beloved son of the late Franklin Paul and Ruby Lynne (Cox) Oliphant.
Ted, as he was affectionately known, shared his life with the love of his life, Charlotte J. (Carr) Oliphant, whom he married on June 11, 1960. Charlotte’s passing on December 19, 2011, left a void in his heart that he carried with grace and strength.
After graduating from Lebanon High School, Ted courageously enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served his country with honor. Following his military service, he returned to his home state of Indiana and dedicated his career to Shumate Business Forms in Lebanon.
Ted’s family meant the world to him, and he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He found immense joy in watching his grandsons, Michael and Brandon, play sports. Additionally, Ted took great interest in politics, engaging in meaningful discussions and keeping a keen eye on current events.
In addition to his loving son, Chad D. (Jenifer) Oliphant, and his grandsons Michael (Abbie) Oliphant and Brandon Oliphant, Ted is survived by his brother-in-law, Joe Klemme of Lebanon. He was preceded in death by his dear sister, Judy Klemme, whose memory he cherished dearly.
To honor Ted’s memory and service to his country, Graveside Services with Military Rites will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown, Indiana. The ceremony will be a heartfelt tribute to a man who lived a life filled with love and dedication.
The final arrangements for Franklin Theodore Oliphant have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory, ensuring that his memory will be cherished for generations to come.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Lebanon Youth Football League, an organization close to Ted’s heart, as it embodies the same spirit of teamwork and dedication that he carried throughout his life.
