Genda Funeral Homes owner Mark Genda recently announced to his many patrons and employees that he is taking a “step back” from funeral home operations as he pursues his next chapter in the Indiana statehouse.
His successor, Pat Day, will not only manage day-to-day operations but is also assuming ownership of Genda Funeral Homes. Pat has a wealth of experience in the funeral industry, recently returning to Genda after his tenure at Stout Funeral Homes in Kokomo.
“As much as I would love to continue serving you forever, I know that cannot be. I do, however, need to have peace of mind that our unwavering commitment to you will continue with new ownership. Pat and I believe in our hearts that has been successfully achieved,” shared Mark in his recent letter to Genda patrons and family members. He continues on to share that he will remain an active funeral director as well as a mentor to Pat as he assumes a new ownership role.
“I am excited to explore a dream of mine that I have had since the beginning of my career,” Pat Day shared in a recent conversation. “Not only do I get to return to the county of my roots, but I also get to work with people I have built long-time relationships with as we pursue the future together.”
Arrangements have been underway for some time now, with Pat returning to Genda this past spring to begin serving as general manager during Mark’s primary election duties. Operations will continue “business as usual” as the transition moves forward. Formally, the business will remain Genda Funeral Home, although ownership will be under Day Funeral Services, Pat’s newly formed corporation as a part of the ownership transition. Any prior arrangements, contracts, or other agreements with Genda Funeral Home remain in place and unchanged during the transition and subsequent change.
