Geraldine Thompson Owens

Mrs. Geraldine “Gerry” Owens, age 88, of Brodhead, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at her home in Lizton, Indiana.

She was born on October 28, 1935, in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Cecil and Ethel Thompson. She graduated from Brodhead High School in 1953 and then attended Rodger’s Business School. She was employed as a clerk at the Pulaski County Municipal Building in Somerset, Kentucky, and later took a job with Commonwealth Insurance. She married Aiden Lovell Owens Jr. on June 25, 1960, moved to Indiana where she worked at the Advance Bank and later retired from Lizton State Bank. She enjoyed time spent with family, IU basketball, reading, shopping, and bird watching. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Jamestown, Indiana for 64 years.

Besides her parents and brothers, Willis, Don, and Ellias, she was preceded in death by her husband Lovell Owens. Those left to mourn her passing include her stepson, Julian (Lydia) Owens of Lizton, Indiana; a sister, Carol (Brownie) Martin of Willailla, Kentucky; sisters-in-law, Norietta Thompson and Ruby Thompson of Brodhead, Kentucky; two grandsons, Jason (Melissa) Owens of Pleasant View, Utah and Justin (Stephanie) Owens of Brownsburg, Indiana; nine great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, as well as ten nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services are planned for 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Porter and Hunt Funeral Home, 315 West Main Street in Jamestown, Indiana. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will also be held in Kentucky on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Fairview Church of Christ, 213 Bandy Road, in Brodhead, Kentucky. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Fairview Cemetery in Brodhead, Kentucky.
