A man who eluded authorities for quite some time who was wanted on numerous charges was sentenced last Thursday in Clinton County Superior Court. 41 year old Matthew Gilbert is facing 13 years in prison on the charges he was wanted on previously. Those included possession of methamphetamine and narcotic drugs.
At Thursday’s sentencing, Gilbert fired his attorney and the court appointed Mark Small to represent Gilbert. Small is expected to file an appeal on Gilbert’s behalf.
Gilbert was on the run for a few months last year and was finally taken into custody after a sighting, tip, and a police chase. Any charges filed in that case will be handled in Tipton County.
