Harney Elementary Experiences Firsthand Look At Innovative Technology

The students at Harney Elementary School experienced a firsthand look at the flight of a drone by a company heavily involved with the LEAP Innovation District project and the opportunities the district is expected to provide the community of Lebanon throughout school and beyond.

Members of Fluor Corporation visited Harney Elementary with the intentions to teach the children about innovative technology in the realm of engineering as they showcased the flight of a $20,000 drone for the children to see and form questions about the experience.

According to Lebanon Community School Corporation, the students were treated to the firsthand experience as another facet of the corporation’s focus upon STEM and work-based learning, and the Fluor members were on-hand to answer all of the questions proposed by the curious minds at Harney Elementary.

“This opportunity couldn’t have come at a more fitting time with our very own LCSC buildings under construction,” the corporation released. “The engineers from Fluor left our students feeling inspired and curious, igniting a passion for all things STEM.”

Fluor, a prestigious global engineering, procurement and construction company has been deeply engaged with the LEAP project, which Lebanon and surrounding school corporations have deemed as a wealth of opportunity to continue building curricula pertaining to STEM that may prepare their students for opportunities, whether internships or careers, with Lilly.
