The Howard County Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team would like to
formally extend its sincere appreciation to the Jake Laird Memorial Fund for their generous donation
of critical tactical equipment.

Through their support, the Howard County SWAT Team has received:

• One 5-foot double-headed break and rake tool
• One 6-foot straight NFDD (Noise Flash Diversionary Device) delivery pole with clamp

These specialized tools significantly enhance the team’s operational capabilities and officer safety
during high-risk incidents. The break and rake tool is an essential breaching instrument used to safely
clear and access structures, while the NFDD delivery pole allows operators to deploy diversionary
devices from a safer distance, reducing risk of injury to all involved during tactical operations.

The donation directly supports the team’s mission to protect and serve the citizens of Howard County
by ensuring operators are properly equipped with reliable, professional-grade tools.
“The continued support from the Jake Laird Memorial Fund means a great deal to our team,” said
Detective Rod Shaffer, SWAT Team Commander. “Their commitment to law enforcement and officer
safety helps ensure we are prepared to respond effectively and safely to critical incidents in our
community.”

The Howard County SWAT Team is deeply grateful for this partnership and the ongoing investment in
public safety.
